Treehouse accommodation on the Garden Route

Get up close and personal with nature at Treedom’s forest sanctuary.

Treehouse accommodation on the Garden Route

Fuelled by a passion and love for the environment and slow living, Treedom Villas and Vardos, on the charming and unspoilt Garden Route, was created with the desire to immerse people in nature.

The idea of Treedom was born seven years ago when Debbie Nortje, a trained chef, African tour guide and events director was inspired to create a space in nature with a difference. “I was inspired by Pete Nelson from Treehouse Masters, his passion for living up in the trees and his wonderful personality spoke to me. Since then, the dream has been to live in a forest elevated amongst the trees. Being in the events industry for so many years and creating so many luxury themed spaces, when it came time to build our own ‘treehouse’ it had to be full of texture and pattern,” she says.

Luxury treehouse accommodation comes to life

Working with Kate Shepherd from Something Desired, Nortje made her vision a reality - luxury accommodation in a treehouse on the beautiful Garden Route, in the Western Cape. “It turned out even better than we imagined,” she adds. Her husband Marc is her right hand man and together they have built something remarkable and memorable.

Find peace in your treehouse in the Garden Route forest

Treedom offers the unparalleled happiness and peace that can only be found in a place close to nature, untouched by the stress of city life. The perfect blend of luxury and boho-chic living, it’s their dream made manifest. “We’re not a resort – we’re a sanctuary, where you arrive a stranger and leave a friend,” says Nortje.

Enjoy exclusive treehouse accommodation

Treedom currently has one exclusive luxury Treehouse with accommodation for four people. An open, double-volume space, it features expansive windows inviting in the unspoilt surroundings, a lounge area designed for relaxation (with a comfy couch, fireplace, luxury throws and TV equipped with DSTV, Netflix and Amazon Prime) and private patio with a floating daybed. The fully equipped kitchen allows you to prepare meals while listening to the birds, or you can have a braai in the outdoor forest lounge downstairs.

Self-catering treehouse accommodation

The self-catering treehouse villa sleeps four – in one queen and two single beds. Guests are welcomed with a hamper of home-baked goods, honey, milk, yoghurt and butter from Treedom’s neighbours and eggs from the property’s own hens. Guests are also invited to pick produce from the veggie garden to use to cook their meals. As a chef, Nortje is also happy to cook for guests if so desired. When not relaxing in your treehouse accommodation, you can venture out for a day of activities – mountain biking, canoeing or horseriding and immerse yourself in the beautiful setting of the Garden Route.

Treedom is located close to the town of Wilderness on the Garden Route, and in easy proximity of a petrol station, store and lake, which you can reach using the property’s Jeep 4x4 buggy.
